DEARBORN, MI (April, 2007) – Even with demand for the most muscular Mustang ever – the Shelby GT500 – at a record high, Ford is cranking up additional customer interest in its high-performance flagship. Fresh on the heels of announcing an even more powerful GT500 – the 2008 Shelby GT500KR – at this year's New York International Auto Show, Ford is offering a special option that adds some unique visual appeal to the 2007 Shelby GT500. Enter the new "Red Appearance Package," now available on the '07 Mustang Shelby GT500 Coupe.
A new Red Appearance Option Code (54R) can now be added to any 2007 Shelby GT500 Coupe (T88 body) order, with either White (HP) or Black (UA) exterior paint. Included in the deal are Bright Red overbody and bodyside stripes, plus the Red-and-Black Leather Interior (GR), and an array of unique red-accent exterior badges. They include red-tinted Cobra emblems in the grille and on both fenders, as well as in the faux gas cap on the rear panel. Even the "SHELBY" letters on the decklid feature red accents.
The Red Appearance Package also brings unique new Premium Ebony Carpet floor mats with a Red and Silver embroidered "Cobra Snake" logo, plus a fitted Shelby GT500 car cover. The appearance package carries an MSRP of $1,650, and is available only from early May through the end of the 2007 model run.
Word on the optional 2007 GT500 appearance enhancements came only days after Ford and Shelby Automobiles joined forces to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 1968 Shelby Cobra GT500KR with the unveiling of the 2008 Shelby GT500KR – the most powerful Mustang to date – at the 2007 New York International Auto Show.
